Grace Morningstar holds a Masters of Music in Cello Performance from the University of British Columbia, where she studied with creative forces Eric Wilson and Janet Steinberg. Grace’s primary creative focus is celebrating new Canadian works by living composers, and collaborating with other artists and composers to create something new.
Grace has served as a cellist-composer for multiple theatre companies, has premiered new works by living composers, performs with professional orchestras, and contributed as a guest artist on dozens of albums. In between creative projects, Grace also runs Grace Notes Events, Niagara and Ottawa’s premiere wedding string ensemble, maintains a full teaching studio of cello students, and spends her nights spinning new DJ mixes.
A true collaborator at heart, Grace thrives on making music with others and believes in music’s power to expand the mind, deepen connections, and infuse focus in an ever-hastening world. She looks forward to sharing her inspiration with students and collaborators alike.
Grace is now based in Ottawa, Ontario on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.
